Knock Museum Hosts Mini Film Festival

To celebrate Heritage Week 2009, Knock Museum will screen a series of short films spanning the years 1936-1979 and featuring Knock Shrine, Knock village and numerous local people.
The films will be shown courtesy of the Irish Film Archive and will be screened on Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August from 6-7.30pm on both evenings. The films will have live musical accompaniment and will be followed by light refreshments. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Knock Museum, which is located in Knock Shrine Grounds, was recently awarded Full Accreditation in the Museum Standards Programme for Ireland making it only the seventh museum in Ireland to have achieved this status. The museum also scooped two national awards in the 2009 Museum of the Year Awards.
Heritage Week is coordinated by the Heritage Council and the aim of it is to build awareness of our built, natural and cultural heritage thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation. The week runs from 22-30 August 2009.
